Femmes fusion is a four-piece band with an exciting and original sound that draws inspiration from multi-cultural fusions including flamenco, tango, jazz and soul. The group started their journey at the beginning of 2015 and have already managed to play some summer festivals including the Secret Garden Party and the Small World festival.
All the band members are trained musicians that have been playing for more than 10 years respectively. They have come together from different musical and cultural backgrounds and originate from England, Wales, Italy and Hungary.
Heather Loxston is a singer, songwriter, musician, linguist and music teacher from London. She studied classical singing and jazz vocal studies at Trinity Laban Conservatoire in London, Lancaster University and the Conservatorio “G.B. Martini” di Bologna, Italy. Heather also enjoys singing pop music and plays the violin and the full range of recorders. After graduating she moved to Italy for 5 years where she worked as an English and Music teacher and performed as a lead vocalist in a variety of musical projects. She returned to London in 2014 and regularly performs as a soloist and the lead singer of an Anglo-Italian jazz quintet and Latin Jazz Trio.
Francesca Gambaro is a classical, pop and jazz violinist and teacher. Born in Italy, she has been travelling around Europe from a very young age to study with 'Russian School' teachers in Bucharest, Moscow and Berlin. After developing a brilliant technique and profound sound, she joined the Perth Symphony Orchestra in Australia and the "Carlo Felice” orchestra in Genova. Now she is based in London where she is studying for a Master of Music in Violin Performance at Trinity Laban Conservatoire.
Edina Balczó is a Hungarian guitarist based in London, who plays a mixed style of flamenco/percussion and spanish jazz. She is a mainly self-taught guitarist and has been playing for over 15 years. Her videos are very popular on youtube hitting more than 7 million views and she is also endorsed by GuitarPro software. She is one of the guitarists in the duo 'De fuego
' and is also the resident solo guitarist of the Camino
Spanish restaurant. Edina appeared in the GuitarStar TV show by Sky Arts and in the documentary 'A technicolor dream' (2008, Eagle Vision). She also composed the entire music of the short film Blue Balloons. Moreover Edina has sessioned and collaborated with many bands and musicians around the world.
Ciara is a drummer from London. Since she first started playing at 16, drumming has taken her all over the world; from playing the iTunes festival in London, to tours in America and throughout Europe.
Graduating from the ACM in 2005 with a degree in contemporary music Ciara also attended the LA Music Academy in California.
She enjoys playing odd time signatures and any style that will stretch her creatively and technically.
